One of the most recognised names in motorcycle racing, Shawn Giles, is eyeing a round victory at this weekendÍs YMF Loan Australian Superbike Championship Grand Final at Eastern Creek, keen to end the season on a high note.

In stark comparison to his stellar career, 2006 has been a year to forget for the former champion, with injury halting his title aspirations.

At present, the Team Yoshimura Suzuki pilot occupies 13th on the points table after missing a number of rounds during the recovery process.

Victory at the final round would be somewhat of a consolation prize for the veteran rider, but a fitting tribute to his ability nonetheless.

The former champ will look to make amends and provide a strong challenge to leading riders Jamie Stauffer and Russell Holland as their title fight comes down to the wire.

Giles is fully-prepared for the Eastern Creek showdown, and feels he has a good handle on the GSXR-1000.

"Getting some miles on the bike at Winton really improved my confidence and race fitness, and we all know that the Yoshimura Suzuki GSX-R1000 will be fast as always, so we've got the necessary ingredients to be the front runners in Sydney," Giles said.

"I really want to finish this tough season on a high note and I'll be pushing very hard for the win at Eastern Creek."

A large field of Superbike riders will turn their first laps of the track in the Friday free practice sessions on November 17, with qualifying to follow the next day.

With a collective 800 horsepower blasting from each row of the grid for the premier categoryÍs final two Superbike races of the season, the action is guaranteed to be intense.
